We are proud to introduce our newest member of the Stellenbosch office. Koos Bouwer has joined MBB to compliment the team that spearheads our group’s agro-industrial activities.
Koos Bouwer grew up in the Eastern Cape on a citrus farm, in the Sondagsriviervallei, near Kirkwood, where he was schooled and matriculated. He and his wife Alida have been married for 38 years and have 3 children. Following in their dad’s footsteps, his two sons, Gerhard and Stephan are engineers and his daughter, Lydia is an actuary. Koos is proud to admit that he is a grandparent to twin girls.
After studying engineering at the University of Stellenbosch, where he obtained BEng Hons (Mechanical / Industrial) he spent his first five years at Lyttelton Engineering Works as an Industrial Engineer. He then completed a Master’s Degree before joining Swartklip Products in Cape Town as a quality manger and later as a procurement manager. After completing his MBA at the University of Stellenbosch Business School, he moved to the agricultural industry and was appointed as Managing Director at Unifruco Packaging Services. They supply packing material for fruit exporters. One thing led to the other and his career moved to logistics projects at Capespan, where he became General Manager at the Fruit Terminal in Cape Town, and then General Manager Technical Services for the FPT Group. In 2006, Koos started his own company, Koos Bouwer Consulting where he was involved in a wide range of projects, to mention a few: Project Management on Construction Projects, Carbon Footprint Calculations, Energy Efficiency and Optimisation, Supply Chain Analysis, Business Process Improvement, Production Planning and Stock Control Systems.
When Koos has free time, he likes to work, with his hands, on DIY projects. His other interests are sports (he participated in rugby, tennis, squash, golf, cycling), motorcycles and outdoor experiences of hunting, camping and gardening.
We look forward to Koos’s experience complementing our team in the many exciting projects on which we work. He is looking forward to working across the country and venturing further afield on our African projects. Welcome Koos.
