MBB Consulting Engineers has over the decades maintained a close relationship with the South African Institute of Agricultural Engineers (SAIAE), with Pranesh Moodley, a Director of MBB (Pietermaritzburg), serving as its current President.

This close relationship extends to the Bioresource Engineering Programme within the School of Engineering based at the University of KwaZulu Natal (uKZN), which is the alma mater of many of MBB’s employees both past and present. MBB’s involvement with the university ranges from guest lectures and external examiners to involvement on the School’s Industry Advisory Board.

It has become a traditional for MBB to sponsor the prizes for the Final Year Design Projects, with the uKZN Students being invited to present at the SAIAE KZN Branch AGM towards the end of each year. 2019 was no exception, with prizes being handed out to Sandile Dladla, Itumeleng Manailana and Bhoyane Madonsela for their work on the design, construction and evaluation of a maize shelling machine.
