MBB Consulting Services welcomes Luthando Shezi, a recent civil engineering graduate from the Durban University of Technology to the MBB team. Luthando has been placed with MBB as part of the Water Graduate Employment Programme (GEP) and will spend the next six months with us gaining exposure to the engineering industry and developing his engineering skills.
The Water GEP is a programme initiated by the Water Research Commission (WRC) together with the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) and The National Treasury and forms part of the broader Presidential Stimulus Project.
As of 2019, the unemployment of recent graduates in South Africa stood at 33%. The ultimate aim of this programme is to reduce this figure and improve the employability of young graduates, by developing their skills, with the hope that their placement in the industry may lead to further internships and employment. By doing this, the water sector will be rejuvenated with fresh talent that is capable of driving sustainable water and sanitation management.
Luthando was born and raised in Durban, Umlazi, by his mother and grandmother and is the eldest of five siblings. Luthando is overwhelmed and grateful to have been selected for the GEP programme.
At MBB we always take pleasure in assisting and moulding young Graduates at the beginning of their career journey, and we trust that Luthando’s time with us will help him fulfil his dreams and positively contribute to the future of our industry.
