2023 marks MBB Services International’s (MSI) 50th anniversary, a half-century of service and making a difference in the communities in which we are based. What better way to celebrate this legacy than by welcoming the new additions within the MSI group of Companies that we trust will add their own flair to the units they have joined and be inspired to build on this legacy into the future. We introduce the new faces of MSI to you.
Christiaan Luus
Christiaan Luus joined MBB in October 2022 as a Civil Engineer. He grew up in the Lowveld and previously undertook experiential training work for MBB during his studies at the University of Stellenbosch. Christiaan met his wife, Nadia, in Lephalale where he was employed by Stefanutti Stocks. He has a passion for hiking, camping, and trail running and MBB extends a warm welcome to Christiaan and wishes him every success in his new role.
Michael Appolus
Born and bred in Cape Town, Michael pursued undergraduate studies at the University of Cape Town. During this time, his fascination with water and engineering grew, leading him to pursue postgraduate studies at Stellenbosch University, specialising in river engineering and the design of hydraulic structures. While completing his postgraduate studies, Michael assisted the engineering services staff of the Western Cape Department of Agriculture (WCDOA) with various engineering projects and joined the WCDOA on a full-time basis on the completion of his postgraduate studies. He was appointed as a full-time assistant resident engineer at the Holsloot Diversion Works (R78 million) construction project. In this role, Michael was supporting Stellenbosch University in implementing the project while gaining the practical experience required for his training for ECSA registration as a Professional Engineer. In early 2023, Michael moved to the private sector joining a Western Cape-based consulting firm specialising in dam engineering. A tragedy in the company led to him resigning and relocating to Pietermaritzburg to join the MBB team in May 2023.
